Northeast Shores monitors business activity in the neighborhood's business districts - commissioning market studies to gauge how existing businesses are faring - and works to help businesses adjust to the changing market. Northeast Shores also uses the findings to determine what new businesses to recruit. The results of these studies, as well as other market data, are available to anyone currently in business in the neighborhood or considering opening or relocating a business here.

Get a low interest loan to make exterior improvements to your commercial property. Free professional design assistance by a storefront renovation specialist from the City of Cleveland is provided to program participants. The types of improvements covered are storefront/transom window replacement; exterior door replacement; repair/replacement of upper story windows; surface cleaning; new signage, lighting, and awnings; new curbing, decorative, yet functional, fencing; and fresh landscaping.
The Northeast Shores staff will help you throughout your renovation process, from application and bidding to design review and construction. Once the work has been completed, your SRP facilitator will prepare the final paperwork, close out the project and secure your final rebate or loan payment.
Chances are if you own a commercial building in the area, you are within a Business Revitalization District (BRD). BRDs are located in major business hubs in the area, for example: St. Clair Avenue, Lake Shore Boulevard, East 156th Street, East 185th Street and Waterloo Road.
Design review is required for any exterior property repair or design change in which a permit is required. Interior improvements are exempt from the design review process, as are repairs associated with normal building maintenance. Design review must occur before a permit can be issued and ideally, should occur before a contractor applies for a permit. Northeast Shores helps market North Collinwoods's prime commercial districts to customers and new businesses. We support special events and produce district marketing materials to bring extra traffic to the area. We also try to make the shopper's experience positive and unique among local commercial areas with district signage, proper maintenance, streetscape improvements and holiday decorations. artistic renderings of possible improvements. Northeast Shores also purchases
vacant or underused buildings in key locations, completely renovates
them, recruits tenants and leases the space - turning blighted corners
into district assets.
