for business they negotiated a purchase agreement, raised funds from many
sources for
this $500,000
project - using $65,000 of their own equity - and acquired the property in
February 1999. Knowing that they wouldn't use all 9,000 square feet, Northeast Shores searched for a business needing lots of space to locate in one side of the building. "It was a perfect fit and exactly what I needed," says Victoria Smith owner of the day care center Little Hands & Feet. Already filling her center on East 152nd Street with two-and-a-half to 12-year-olds, Victoria wanted a space for infants to five-year-olds. "Northeast Shores has been wonderful! Because we knew from the start that I would be here, we could design the perfect space to fit all of my wants and needs." The major renovation was completed in June 2000 and Little Hands & Feet moved in on September 1, 2000. |

| There's
Power in Partnerships Euclid Hospital played a crucial role in Northeast Shores' evolution by providing free office space and utilities in their Health Clinic building. Their generosity allowed Northeast Shores to build its staff and programs for its first five years of existence without overhead expenses. Northeast Shores is funded by Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) dollars administered by the City of Cleveland Department of Community Development with support from Councilman Michael D. Polensek and operating support by the Cleveland Neighborhood Partnership Program (CNPP), a collaboration of Neighborhood Progress Inc., Local Initiatives Support Corporation and the Enterprise Foundation. |
